Absence
If your child is absent, please call the school office between 8:00 am and 2:15 pm to report your child’s absence from school. New York State law requires a written excuse upon the child’s return.
Tardiness
Children arriving after 8:00 am are considered tardy and must report to the Main Office to obtain a classroom pass upon arrival. Children are not marked “tardy” for school bus transportation reasons.
Early Dismissal
A written request must be sent to the school if a child needs to be dismissed earlier than 2:15 pm, stating the child’s name, the reason for early dismissal, the date and time of dismissal, and the person picking up the student.
Please Note: Students may only be picked up early by someone other than a parent or legal guardian when the school has received prior authorization from a parent or guardian. Written authorization is preferred, but parents may also provide authorization by phone. This requirement applies even if the individual is listed as an emergency contact. For the safety of our students, we will not release a student to anyone who has not been authorized in advance by a parent or guardian.
Closings & Delays
Blessed Sacrament School will follow the protocol of the Syracuse City School District in regard to closings and delays.
School Visits
At Blessed Sacrament, we encourage strong parent involvement with our school. We encourage you to keep in close contact with us. Open communication is the foundation for a successful relationship between you, your child, and the school.
All parents and visitors must enter the School through its front doors, report to the Main Office, identify themselves, and sign in. Any forgotten items should be dropped off at the Main Office. Please do not deliver them directly to your child’s classroom. Parents are welcome to visit a class in session after making an appointment through the Main Office and with the Principal's approval. Teachers are unable to speak with parents during school hours when they have classroom responsibilities, as their primary obligation is to the children in their classroom and their safety. If you wish to speak with a teacher(s) or the Principal about your child, please send an email/note or call to schedule an appointment. Teachers will return your email/call within 24 hours.
Visits by parents, potential students, and tours are arranged through the Principal or designee. Please contact the Main Office to make an appointment.
